HELP FOR VICTIMS OF HURRICANE FLORENCE
As Hurricane Florence continues to strike the east coast of the United States, here are two ways you can help. Catholic Charities is on the ground in the affected areas. Run by the different dioceses, Catholic Charities gets the money where it needs to go fast. The local parish St. Vincent de Paul Societies are also on the ground - these are friends and neighbors, whose own homes and neighborhoods are being affected. They know the people they work with. Your support will go directly to the local groups.
Remember - in times of disaster, relief agencies always ask that you NOT travel as a free-lance volunteer to the disaster areas, and that you NOT send supplies and materials (like socks, children's toys, food stuffs, etc.). Although well meaning, these efforts often fail to get to the real people in need and can hinder the disaster relief organizations. Please consider volunteer-ing with a known organization, and please make monetary donations. In this way, your help makes a difference fast, exactly when needed! Thank you!
